About My Story
John has been photographing his surroundings since his early teens. His first camera was a Kodak 126 that served him well until the purchase of a Praktika LB at age 15. Originally from Fredericton, New Brunswick, armed with his trusty Praktika, John moved to Toronto in 1978 to study Photography at Ryerson. Returning to the retail business field John traded up to a Canon AE1 to continue exploring his surroundings and experiences while working on corporate brochures and reports. John has exhibited at Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre in St. Andrews, New Brunswick and during the CONTACT Festival in Toronto. He regularly hosts shows and sales in Toronto and participates in local Arts and Crafts Shows. In 2005 John switched to digital with a Canon EOS 5D and he continues to explore his surroundings and experiences in nature, his home city of Toronto, and travels when possible. John's current project to document our native Canadian orchids combines his interests in hiking, photography and conservation. Together with his husband Peter, they give presentations about their travels.
